Time

Anyone have an excess?

I'm so out of time I really don't know what to do. I have a terrible yearning to do handcrafts but absolutely zero time. I cannot do anything while the toddler is up, and in the evenings I don't really have that much extra time either. Still need to do other things, like clean and laundry and what not. And it's only going to get worse with the studies.

<sigh> Have a few have-to-do's on the list at least, like a new jacket for the little one (blue velvet with a pink silk lining) and then I'll probably move over to the new corset. The black jacket is waiting for the embroidery (actually, at the moment it's waiting to come home as our luggage has not yet arrived from Saturday's homecoming), so it'll take me a while still. And I had a weak moment and promised to make another embroidered Egyptian linen shirt as a combined birthday/Christmas present. Looks like it's going to be a long year...

Where do people find all this time to do things, I wonder? Is there like a secret handshake you need in specialy shops in order to get a few extra hours a day?

Nope. No secret handshakes, no shopping in the shady back rooms or under the counter, or offering bribes - nothing helps. If you have a small child AND a normal life, the time is just not there. Remember when R2 was just few months old, and I had managed to do three (3) buttonhole stitches in a week, while our friend M the Mighty Doctor had sewn a dress, a hood and something else by hand AND cut a new dress during that same week, while also studying and maintaining a relationship? That's the bitter reality.

No matter how wonderful it is to have children, one can not help but think that having them means putting your own life / handicrafts / hobbies / what-ever-it-is-that-is-not-necessary-for-survival on hold for a few years. Sure, it gets easier when the kids grow older, at least when they move out. But until then: it's an "I wish I could" life for us.

(Do I sound tired? I am. I've been at home for weeks with both kids. I can't wait for tomorrow when I get to go and relax at work...)

Welcome home, sweetie! You have been missed.

And a huge hug for both of you wonderful ladies! I can voluntier to babysit, so you can do something else every once in a while. It should be easy with E, but I guess I would survive even da boyz, if they would come to Helsinki?
